Forehead lines treatment at Core Aesthetics uses prescription anti-wrinkle injectable product to temporarily reduce the activity of the frontalis muscle, softening horizontal creases across the forehead. Treatment is individually assessed and dosed conservatively to maintain natural brow position.

Forehead lines are among the most common concerns people bring to a cosmetic consultation, and one of the most frequently requested anti-wrinkle treatment areas. Whether you notice horizontal creases only when raising your brows or whether they have become visible at rest, understanding what is driving them informs whether and how treatment is appropriate for your individual situation.

At Core Aesthetics in Oakleigh, forehead treatment is always assessed in the context of your full upper face anatomy before any recommendation is made. Corey Anderson, AHPRA registered nurse (NMW0001047575), is the sole treating practitioner at the clinic and every treatment plan begins with a consultation, not a protocol.

What Causes Forehead Lines?

The forehead lines are created primarily by the frontalis muscle, a broad, flat muscle that runs across the forehead and is responsible for raising the brows. Every time the brows lift with expression, this muscle contracts and the overlying skin folds horizontally. Over years of repeated movement, combined with the natural reduction in skin elasticity that comes with age, these folds gradually become more permanent, eventually visible even when the face is at rest.

The degree to which forehead lines develop varies considerably between individuals. Some people develop prominent creases in their twenties due to highly expressive brow movement. Others see little visible change well into their fifties. Genetics, sun exposure history, skin thickness and the degree of habitual facial movement all play a role alongside age.

It is also worth understanding the relationship between forehead lines and the brow. The frontalis has an important functional role, it lifts the brows. This means that how treatment is planned for the forehead directly affects brow position, and careless dosing can produce brow heaviness or a flat, expressionless forehead that looks worse than the original lines. This is one of the reasons that forehead assessment at Core Aesthetics is never done in isolation.

How Forehead Line Treatment Works

Forehead line treatment uses a prescription injectable product to temporarily reduce the activity of the frontalis muscle. When the muscle contracts less, the skin above it creases less, softening the appearance of horizontal lines. The effect develops over several days and reaches its full result at around two weeks. Because the product is temporary, muscle activity gradually returns over the following months and the lines may reappear progressively as it does.

At Core Aesthetics, the dose used for your forehead is determined by your individual muscle activity, the depth and distribution of your lines, your brow position at rest and in expression, and your goals. These are all assessed during your consultation. There is no standard forehead dose applied to every client, because the frontalis varies significantly in strength, width and brow interaction between individuals.

Why the Upper Face Is Treated Together

The most common clinical mistake in forehead anti-wrinkle treatment is addressing the forehead in isolation without considering the frown line muscles that interact with it. The corrugator and procerus muscles pull the brows inward and downward. When they are not treated alongside the frontalis, the frontalis can be over-dosed in an attempt to fully soften the forehead, leading to brow depression. Treating both areas together, assessing the full upper face as a coordinated system, allows for more accurate dosing across the forehead while maintaining natural brow lift and expression.

At Core Aesthetics, upper face treatment is routinely discussed and planned as a whole. You can read more about the full range of anti-wrinkle treatment areas in our overview of anti-wrinkle treatments at Core Aesthetics.

What to Expect at Your Consultation

Corey will assess your frontalis muscle strength and movement, your brow position at rest and with full brow raise, the distribution and depth of your forehead lines, and how these relate to frown line activity. You will receive an honest recommendation about whether treatment is appropriate, what dosing approach suits your individual anatomy and what realistic results look like for your face. You will also have time to ask questions without any pressure to proceed.

Recovery and What to Expect After Treatment

Most clients can resume normal activities immediately after forehead anti-wrinkle treatment. Minor redness or swelling at injection sites is possible but typically resolves within hours. The treatment takes several days to begin taking effect, with the full result visible at around two weeks. Your practitioner will discuss the settling process and what to expect during this period at your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will forehead treatment freeze my expressions?

A conservative approach aims to soften lines while preserving natural movement. At Core Aesthetics, the goal is never a frozen or flat forehead. Treatment is dosed carefully based on your individual muscle activity and brow position.

Can forehead treatment cause brow drooping?

Poorly planned or over dosed forehead treatment can cause brow heaviness. At Core Aesthetics, forehead treatment is always assessed in the context of your brow position and is planned alongside frown line treatment to maintain natural balance.

How long does forehead treatment last?

Duration varies between individuals and depends on the dose used and your metabolism. Your practitioner will discuss realistic timeframes during your consultation.

Should forehead treatment be done with frown line treatment?

Often yes. The frontalis and the muscles creating frown lines interact in the upper face. Treating them together typically produces a more balanced result.
