What Causes This Concern
The masseter is one of the strongest muscles in the body relative to its size. It runs from the cheekbone to the jaw angle and is responsible for chewing. It can become enlarged through habitual grinding and clenching, natural development or both. When hypertrophied, it creates a wider, squarer lower face at the jaw angle.
